Yoshimatsu Laboratory
Let us apply grants of private foundations
Management expense grants continue to decrease in Japan, and it is predicted that research expenses provided to each laboratory will continue to decrease in future. Unfortunately, for researchers, earning research funds is considered more important than publishing original papers. The main source of research funding for faculty members comes from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science's Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research. Young researchers will likely start with the Research Activity Start-Up Support program, then consider moving on to two Young Researchers and then Scientific Research.
Private foundation grants offer the following benefits:
-
Applications for research grants are accepted for a variety of topics.
-
Application periods vary by foundation, so applications for research grants can be made throughout the year.
-
Many foundations give preference to young researchers.
Writing applications for private foundations is also a great way to practice writing grant applications in Kaken-hi. Be proactive in applying to private foundations and develop your research on your own.
