Fiscal year 2025
March 15, 2026:
Kanno (M1) gave an oral presentation, while Kinoshita (M2) and Fujiwara (B4) presented posters at the Spring Meeting of the Japan Society of Applied Physics, held at the Ookayama Campus of Institute of Science Tokyo. In addition, four collaborative research projects were presented.

February 19, 2026:
Fujiwara (B4) gave a presentation on his undergraduate thesis.

February 16, 2026:
Kinoshita (M2) gave a presentation on his master’s thesis.

February 11–15, 2026:
We conducted synchrotron four-circle X-ray diffraction experiments at BL-4C of KEK-PF.

February 3, 2026:
Yoshimatsu obtained a Class I Health Officer license.

January 30th, 2025:
A four-circle XRD instrument is installed in our laboratory.

December 17th, 2025:
Associate Professor Daichi Oka of Tokyo Metropolitan University gave us intensive lecture #3 (Chemical Science and Engineering Topics II), after which we had a party in the lab.

December 11th, 2025:
Kinoshita (M2) gave an oral presentation at MRM2025.

December 3rd, 2025:
Associate Professor Daichi Oka of Tokyo Metropolitan University gave us intensive lectures #1 & 2 (Chemical Science and Engineering Topics II). Everyone in the lab attended the lecture.

December 1st, 2025:
Kanno (M1) and Zhou (M1) gave their intermediate master's thesis presentations.

November 28th, 2025:
Kinoshita (M2) won the Excellent Poster Presentation Award at CSJ Chemistry Festa 2025.

November 14-17th, 2025:
We conducted synchrotron four-circle X-ray diffraction experiments at BL-4C of KEK-PF.

October 24th, 2025:
Kinoshita (M2) gave a poster presentation at CSJ Chemistry Festa 2025

We conducted synchrotron 2D X-ray diffraction experiments at BL-8A of KEK-PF.

September 11-12th, 2025:
Yoshimatsu gave an invited lecture at the summer school of the research group on ferroic-ordering and their manipulation.

September 7-11th, 2025:
Yoshimatsu and Kanno (M1) gave oral presentations at the 86th Autumn Meeting of the Japan Society of Applied Physics in Nagoya. Six other collaborative research presentations were also given. The related program is here.

September 5th, 2025:
A project was selected for a research grant from the Amano Institute of Technology, Public Interest Foundation. The project will cover a two-year research period with a budget of 5 million yen.

August 6, 2025:
The laboratory was open to the public at the Institute of Science Tokyo Open Campus.

August 4, 2025:
A press release was issued for a paper on 2H-NbO2.

July 22, 2025:
 A paper on 2H-NbO2 was published in ACS Nano.

July 5, 2025:
We held a barbecue party for preparing the graduate school entrance exam of the bachelor 4th grade students.

June 18-22, 2025:
Synchrotron X-ray diffraction experiments were conducted at BL-4C in KEK-PF.

June 12, 2025:
Kinoshita (M2) and Kanno (M1) gave poster presentations at the conference of the Academic Transformation Area "2.5-Dimensional Materials Science."

June 9, 2025:
Yoshimatsu gave a presentation at the Kato Foundation for Science Promotion.

Synchrotron X-ray diffraction experiment was conducted at BL-8A of KEK-PF.

April 1, 2025:
Yoshimatsu's principal investigator was selected for Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (B) (Project Number: 25K01663). The total amount is expected to be 14,500,000 yen for the research period from FY 2025 to FY 2029.

February 20, 2025:
Keitaro Kanno (B4) presented his graduation thesis for his undergraduate research project and received the Oukakai Special Award.

February 12, 2025:
A paper on the SrNbO3/SrTiO3 interface was selected for the APL Materials Excellence Award.

December 17, 2024:
Yoshimatsu received the Reviewer Excellence Award from Physical Review Materials.

November 27, 2024:
Yoshimatsu was adopted for a research grant from the Materials Science Foundation.

November 18, 2024:
Yoshimatsu was adopted for a research grant from the Casio Science Foundation.

September 17, 2024:
Yoshimatsu gave an oral presentation at the Japan Society of Applied Physics.

July 17, 2024:
An original paper on photoemission spectroscopy of the SrNbO₃/SrTiO₃ interface were published in APL Materials.

July 4, 2024:
Yoshimatsu delivered an outreach lecture at Kanagawa Prefectural Hiratsuka Konan High School (Title: What is the New Chemistry Studied at University?).

June 8–9, 2024:
Synchrotron X-ray diffraction experiments were conducted at BL-8A of KEK-PF.

June 1–6, 2024:
Synchrotron X-ray diffraction experiments were conducted at BL-4C of KEK-PF.

April 21–24, 2024:
Hard X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy experiments were conducted at BL09XU of SPring-8.

April 5, 2024:
Two 4th year undergraduate students joined our laboratory. Our research activities started with four students including commissioned students from the Tohoku University.
Fiscal year 2023
March 15, 2024:
A paper on the phase transition of Ti₃O₅ was published in Physical Review Materials and was selected as an Editor’s Suggestion.

February 29, 2024:
Yoshimatsu was awarded as an Outstanding Reviewer for Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter by IOP .

January 31, 2024:
Yoshimatsu gave an invited lecture at the Research Presentation Meeting of the Cryogenic Research Support Center.

January 10, 2024:
Yoshimatsu received the Outstanding Referee Award from APS (Physical Review journals).

November 28, 2023:
Yoshimatsu was awarded a research grant from the Thermal and Electrical Energy Technology Foundation.

September 28, 2023:
Yoshimatsu was awarded a research grant from the JFE 21st Century Foundation.

August 1, 2023:
Yoshimatsu moved to the School of Materials and Chemical Technology, Tokyo Institute of Technology, and the Yoshimatsu Laboratory was established.
